Mummer Man (New Years Day)Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.2014. An exhausted "Mummer Man" walks back towards the performances being held at the parade's finish line.Support teams behind him continue to quickly help undo straps, disassemble, and load up the elaborate outfits to transport back to each troupe's respective home base. His posture shows the weight of his wardrobe, which can be up to 150 pounds. The parade route this particular year was three miles, which they dance and perform the whole way, and it was 30 degrees out.

Mummer SpectatorsNew Year's Day.Broad Street.Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.2014.  The Mummers Parade is said to be the oldest folk festival in the United States. Troupes adorned in fantastic and elaborate costumes weave their way through the City of Brotherly Love with floats and handmade props depicting that years decided theme. Each troupe dances and shows off what they have been rehearsing all year long on their way to the finish line at City Hall. Here, some men sit on bleachers outside of The Union League of Philadelphia, waiting the brigades to pass by.
